THE ACTIVITY OF THE NETWORK
In the meeting held on June 27, 2005, the Network has promoted the setting up of the Working Group for the "strategic environmental assessment in the 2007-2013 programming" with a view to ascertaining the conditions for the application of Directive 2001/42/EC (hereinafter referred to as the Directive) to the 2007-2013 programming cycle of the Structural Funds.
The Working Group purposes to ascertain the regulatory conditions, the procedural arrangements and the environmental evaluation methodologies that allow the application of the Directive to the 2007-2013 programming cycle. In particular, the Group is responsible for ascertaining the potential criticalities related to the application of the Directive and for formulating proposals to promote the environmental assessment ensuring, at the same time, the programming activity value added.
These activities are also carried on through the preparation of methodological guidance documents and support tools, the identification and selection of good practices, and the monitoring and dissemination of actual experiences.
The Group has contributed to the draft of the document concerning the assessment in the 2007-2013 programming worked out by the Evaluation Unit (UVAL) of Development and Cohesion Policies Department (DPS) - Ministry of Economic Development - with a view to providing supplementary information for determining the rules concerning the 2007-2013 programming. The WG contribution related to the application of the Directive to Community funds and the relations between the application of the Directive and the ex-ante evaluation in the Regulation proposals.
The WG, in a cooperative effort with the Territorial Protection Directorate of the Ministry for the Environment, Land and Sea, has produced the document
"Application of Directive 2001/42/EC to the 2007-2013 programming cycle of the Structural Funds in Italy", currently pending approval of the Network members by procedure in writing.
